Ben Around the World Diary – Day 26 – 8th August 2018

The buzz wore off and I felt alone and tired and wanting a good nights sleep. I’ve been having nightmares of problems again. Running out of food. Being found my the Guardia in the night. The call to prayer woke me at 5am.

When I got up in the morning I felt worse than when I went to bed. I didn’t want to get back on the bike but that’s all I had to do.

I was cheered no end at the first of many petrol stations shops for a piss and an ice cream. A young chap called Ahmed came to talk to me. He was the petrol station computer engineer and wanted to hear about my work as I traveled and his dream to work in Europe as a programer. The conversation made my day and cheered me up no end despite a super strong headwind building in the afternoon.

We fought the headwind all the way to the end. Just making it into the forest in the dark. Dogs barking in the distance.
