The end of the decade has come around fast. After crossing Europe in my first 7 months on the bike in 2018 I hit Asia – and wow it’s big! 5 months cycling up and down India followed by Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia before heading back to Thailand where I’ll be starting the next leg, finally hitting Oceania this spring.
Cycled for 689 hours – covering 14,521km – climbing 114,911m (14 Everests) – crossing 7 countries.
If cycling around the world wasn’t enough, I also committed to my Digital Nomad life in 2019 announcing my 7 Startups goal.
As part of this plan, I spent several months of the year working with my co-founders Kemal and Pal on SendMusic. In 2019 we launched our first paid plans, signed up some big names and started on some exciting plans to blow up in 2020.
Earlier in the spring, I launched startup #2 – StreamOn – The live stream forwarding service – based on years of headaches I’ve had live streaming to all of the different streaming services from a dodgy internet connection. The beta grew to 200 users and in 2020 I’m rebuilding the core streaming tech using Go -D Wish me luck!
Finally my startup failure of the year. While I was cycling through Myanmar I opened Instagram to see a video Apple cancelling iTunes. Immediately my mind got to work planning Audio – the music app for DJs and professionals. It tuned out after some great press and support that the demand for a music app not far enough away from Apple’s new Music app and the subscription model I came up with meant it didn’t hit the goal.
Finally here are my highlights for the year across the blog, diaries and videos!
