We’ve been working away on something super exciting that we’ve implemented into the Aux app.
Aux Connections AI automatically tags artists’ music projects with mood, genre and instrumentation. This data then builds a completely private profile of each artist which can then recommend new connections to collaborate with who have a similar style of music. With Aux’s remote collaboration tools, no matter where artists’ new connections are based, they can work together remotely, share and track versions of Ableton and Logic Pro projects, upload stems and chat in real time.
These connections can be made between other artists using the Aux app and our digital guide of over 10,000 musicians and music industry contacts.
With our focus on the core remote collaboration features of the Aux app, the ability to develop this technology and take the additional risk of development was made possible by the Innovate UK Next Steps Grant.
Our founder Ben’s relationship with Innovate UK started with an initial Young Innovators award grant of £5000 in 2020. The year-long programme, provided with the grant, allowed Ben and the company to develop the foundation of the AI model as well as develop a wider strategy for the business. After the Young Innovators Award programme ended Ben applied for the competitive Next Steps grant which awarded £50,000 grants to continue developing the Young Innovators Award project.
Alongside this and supported by the Innovate UK grants, the company has grown to a team of five and the product has grown to reach over 55,000 musician users.
This project is the foundation of our commitment to applying AI technology to support artists in their creative process and career. Over the coming year, we plan to release a number of experiments, applying different AI models to solve relevant artist problems and to aid musicians’ creativity.
To try the AI for yourself, sign up to Aux, download the Mac app and sync up your music projects. We’re excited to hear all of the new music you make!
