Since reaching Myanmar I’ve been following in the wheel tracks of so many other cyclists. In Europe there are ten ways to get from any one place to another. In India I chose a very untraditional circuit. Myanmar from Tamu to Myawaddy is the only route to get from India to south east asia since the Chinese have clamped down on overland passage from Nepal into Tibet. I’m here on the off season and far I’ve only met Steve along the way but I’ve been welcomed with photos and knowing waves especially at the more western looking establishments along the road. The owners share stories and photos of other cyclists they’ve hosted. It’s funny to know that other travellers have spotted a familiar looking coffee shop or hotel and made a beeline for a break from the heat. Right now there are hundreds of people cycling long term somewhere in the world. In moments like this I feel connected to them all.
