Ben Around the World Diary – Day 163 – 9th December 2019

– ODO- 20500-20602km
– Location- Bangkok, Thailand
– Weather- 18-29 clear

This morning I made it to Bangkok. For Christmas, I’m heading back to see my family. I don’t want a repeat of my busy lonely Christmas in Goa last year. I left my hotel at 5:30am excited to finish this leg. While I’m away the bike is staying with a family friend. When he gave me his address he warned me of the traffic. Bangkok is known to be busy, to say the least. It set me off thinking about how far I’d come.

I’ve broken the 20,000km mark. I’ve cycled across Istanbul, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hanoi. Bangkok is nothing. The roads were so smooth in comparison and for the whole 100km ride I heard only one truck horn blaring. The crazy traffic seems calm in comparison to other cities I’ve crossed.

Now it’s time to cut together my videos, clean my clothes and fix my broken spoke and bent derailleur hanger.
