Some mornings I feel so unnaturally happy. I mean I’ve been woken up throughout the night by a small animal sniffing round my head outside the tent, then sat up in the strong moonlight for hours trying to get back to sleep, only to be woken at 5am by teams of workers with tourches collecting the rubber from the trees.
My body aches after three days and 450km. I’ve eaten nothing but basic food. I’ve pushed again and again through the heat yet now I feel a base level of relaxation and happiness like I never do in the comforts of home. These moments are rare and fleeting but highly addictive.
