Today I left the coastal highway and flipped my paper map for the first time. With the flip came the realisation that I’ve got a long road to travel to Agra. I’d covered half of one fold in three days. Hyderabad, the next and last major city between me and the Taj Mahal is half up this fold. And there are two whole folds to go.
The smaller highway means smaller restaurants. I’ve just eaten the most amazing Dal Fry and Roti. But there’s a sour mood in the restaurant because I refused to take selfies before eating. I’m sure it’s more in my head. A few packs of biscuits and some time sitting in the shade should get by blood sugar up enough.
Today is my dads birthday but I’m not in a great place to call. Being 5:30 hours ahead makes work a little tricky but social calls more so. Especially when I’m on the road. The days have got longer by an hour or so but by the time I stop and it goes dark it’s only lunchtime back in the UK. And after 150km and sweating through 6 litres of water, I tend to pass out pretty quick.
Twice today I’ve been offered water bottles with a broken seal, refilled from the tap. That’s the first time I’ve noticed on this trip so far.
