Ben Around the World Diary – Day 90 – 17 March 2019

– ODO- 11454 – 11618km
– Location- Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, India
– Weather- 14-32 Cloud breaking by lunchtime

Last night I left the highway to find my hotel for the night. Most small towns have one or two places to stay so I was surprised that Kurukushetr had so many when I checked the OYO app. The first place I had booked sent me away because they didn’t have the C-form that allows them to register foreign guests with the government. They directed me to a bigger hotel down the road.

Travelling deeper into the town I saw more and more tourists in Sikh turbans and stalls selling offerings. I got to the hotel and was charged twice the rate for my room but accepted it gladly after my 164km ride from Delhi. Opening my curtains as the sun set I looked out over the Brahma Sarovar. This man made lake is surrounded by temples and at sunset (and dawn the next morning) was full of worshipers.

Take a look for yourself…

If I hadn’t been turned away from my first hotel would never have ended up here.
